Who's a good boy? Matthews K9 retires after 8 years of service

The board of commissioners recognized Castor for his service as a dual purpose narcotics and apprehension dog on Monday night.

MATTHEWS, N.C. — A K9 officially retired from his police duties Monday night in Matthews. 

The board of commissioners recognized Castor for eight years of service as a dual purpose narcotics and apprehension dog.

His badge was removed by his partner during a ceremony. 

"Castor will now enjoy his well-deserved retirement with Officer Kevin Osuch and his family. We wish him many chew toys and treats in his future."
