CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Walt Disney Company and ESPN are lending some magic to Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte.
The mobile theater will offer patients and their families a place to watch the latest Disney films through complimentary Disney+ access and the Disney Movie Moments program.
The donation is in partnership with Starlight Children's Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to helping bring happiness to children with serious illnesses.
Kim Traverse's son, JoJo is a patient at Atrium Health's Levine Children's Hospital.
“Watching them laugh at the movie and have a good time is really nice," she told WCNC Charlotte's Myles Harris.
Giving young patients something to smile about while at the hospital is a big focus for ESPN and the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
“If we can bring a little bit of Mickey to your room, right in your bed and you're laughing, we've accomplished it," Miranda Thorpe, Vice President of Charlotte Office and Production Management for ESPN, said.
Creating happy memories is special for Kim's family.
“We've been doing this for six years. So all the little things like this matter. Any kind of joy that can be brought into their lives is important,” Kim said.
