CHARLOTTE, N.C. — With just one week until Thanksgiving, several Charlotte organizations are seeking donations as they work to provide meals to neighbors in need this holiday season.
Roof Above is looking for a long list of items to give this holiday season. They're asking anyone who can donate to provide any of the following for Thanksgiving meal kits:
- Turkeys
- Hams
- Dinner rolls
- Green beans
- Candied yams
- Milk
- Cheese
- Potatoes
- Butter
Loaves and fishes will also be handing out Thanksgiving plates next week. They're accepting donations at their warehouse, located at 648 Griffith Road in Charlotte. That's just off Tyvola Road near Interstate 77. Donations can be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on weekdays and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.
Much-needed items include frozen turkeys, stuffing mix, canned vegetables, canned meat and canned fruit. Loaves and Fishes also accepts monetary donations, which go toward food purchases for perishable items, like fresh produce. Click here to learn more about helping during the holidays.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina is also accepting donations for holiday meals. Click here to visit their website for a full list of warehouses near you. Second Harvest is looking for a lot of canned items, such as soups, stew, fruit and vegetables, as they work to feed the community this year.
