CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD Animal Care and Control hopes you'll pass out a special note along with your Halloween candy this week.

They've made up mini adoption posters highlighting dogs and cats that need forever homes that you can give to trick-or-treaters.

It's a simple process:

  1. Go to CMPD AC&C's website to print the adoption sheets.
  2. Cut them out and tape them to the candy.
  3. Hand out the goodies to trick-or-treaters.

"According to the National Retail Federation’s annual survey, 69% of Americans say they will hand out candy," said CMPD AC&C. "What a great way for the Charlotte Community to be able to help promote cute animals in adorable costumes, who are looking for their forever homes."

The grassroots approach is also a way for the community to help CMPD AC&C if they can't adopt a pet or volunteer at the organization.
