ASHEVILLE, N.C. — More than $8,000 was raised on Facebook to help out a North Carolina rescue where 45 rabbits were dropped off Tuesday morning.

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in Asheville posted pictures of the animals left in boxes on the facility's doorstep.

"They were cuddled together for warmth and very scared," the post read.

The rescue asked for fosters, adopters, and volunteers to help with the rabbits' care.

They also provided a list of needed supplies:

  • Timothy hay
  • Rabbit food
  • Carrots
  • Romaine
  • Strawberries
  • Rabbit toys
  • Rabbit habitats
  • Blankets

Brother Wolf provided an update on the situation later in the day.

"Thank you, everyone, for your offers of help, donations, and kind words! At this time we have currently found foster placement for all of the bunnies. Our adoptions team is looking over all the adoption applications," the comment read.

If you are interested in adopting one of these rabbits, visit the rescue's website or email info@bwar.org with questions. They also have an Amazon Wish List.

Brother Wolf's Facebook post had more than 5,000 shares and over 2,000 comments as of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
