CHARLOTTE, N.C. — WCNC Charlotte has been covering how artificial intelligence could change the way we work, but now economic researchers at Reuters might be offering some clarity as to what the changes look like.
Here are three takeaways from the report to keep in mind.
First, while AI taking jobs from humans has grabbed headlines, the European Central Bank said it could be doing the opposite in some situations, meaning AI could support the roles for certain jobs by automating some responsibilities. That comes as working with AI grows as a technological skill.

Second, there's a catch: While AI might not always be taking jobs, it could be lowering wages, according to the Reuters report.
If systems like ChatGPT are taking duties like writing and data organization off workers' plates, those workers may be paid less since they are asked to do less.
Finally, AI is quickly developing, and studies aren't keeping up with the advancement. With this in mind, a lot of AI's potential impacts on employment and wages have yet to be seen.
