CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Owners of Charlotte Cafe at the Arboretum announced it will be closing after serving delicious meals in the Queen City for more than 40 years.
Charlotte Cafe, located in the Arboretum in south Charlotte, will close for good on Thursday, Dec. 15. The restaurant's owners said the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and economic struggles resulted in the decision to close.
"We have made so many wonderful memories throughout these 40 years that we have been blessed to serve our community and we will cherish them forever," a post on Charlotte Cafe's Facebook page says.
The Charlotte Cafe first opened its doors in 1986. Founder Jimmy Roupas made his name by serving dozens of popular items, including fried zucchini and baked apples. The restaurant was known for its homestyle cooking and hearty portions.
"We hope and pray our paths will cross someday but if they do not just know we love you all and this wonderful community we were blessed to be a part of," the post reads. "Our memories will stay with us forever."
