CHARLOTTE, N.C. — More Disney stores will be closing this fall, including both locations in the Charlotte area.
USA Today reported that the Walt Disney Co. plans to close nearly 60 of its brick-and-mortar retail locations across the country. This includes the stores at Concord Mills Mall in Concord, as well as SouthPark Mall in Charlotte. Disney's website says both stores will close "on or before" Sept. 15. Raleigh will be home to North Carolina's lone Disney location.
Earlier this year, Target announced it will open more than 100 new Disney shops inside its stores nationwide. In March, Disney announced at least 60 stores nationwide would close, with nearly 40 stores shutting down during the first round.
Disney announced the pandemic has shifted what customers expect from retailers with the company putting a greater emphasis on online ordering.
