CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The grand opening of Lowe's new Tech Hub on Tuesday celebrated the 2,400 jobs that will be based at this anchor location in South End.
The Mooresville-based home improvement company conducted a tour of its 357,000-square-foot space at 100 W Worthington Ave. in Charlotte.
Lowe's firmly believes its shiny, new office will tempt workers to return to the office.
"Our Lowe's tech function has what's called an open office return-to-office strategy, which means our associates can work from home or work from the office as they deem appropriate," Lowe's Director of Technology Business Management Randy Alexander said.
The towering facility is more than a bunch of cubicles. It's right in the heart of the growing South End neighborhood, a decision Lowe's said it made on purpose.
"When we announced South End, back in 2019, we had an immediate significant spike in terms of talent acquisition and resumes that were being sent because talent across the country, and candidly across the world, was excited about being in a sprawling urban environment, as South End is," Alexander said.
The building certainly makes a statement, looming over the Rail Trail.
"The building is a gorgeous building," Alexander said. "And it's highly collaborative. It's an amazing space for creativity to happen. We're thrilled that associates have an amazing workplace to come to, when they need to."
About half of the employees have already settled into the new space with the rest expected soon. The company is still hiring, and jobs can be found on their online jobs site.
