It's a day that celebrates local entrepreneurs like Porchia Hare.

"I eat sleep and breathe cooking I love to cook," Hare, owner of Sis and Ann Foods, said.

Sis and Ann Foods specializes in creating beautiful cakes and delicious entrees. Hare said she knows first-hand the power of community support—it’s the same support that’s kept her business afloat for more than seven years.

"The community is kind of who you reach first, I've had so many people say they’ve been watching since day one and that means a lot that people really root for you," Hare said.

In South End, Shop Small Saturday took off and shoppers could take advantage of open-air pop-up markets, holiday programming, and some of Charlotte’s best local brick-and-mortar retail.

Shop Small Saturday happened from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Camden Road near Worthington Avenue. You can also catch Shop Small Saturdays through December.

"Lots of people will take advantage of walking down the street our hope is they meet new businesses they have never seen before," Vice President for South End Megan Gude said. "This weekend is the most important sales weekend for the entire year so every purchase you make makes a really big difference for their entire year."

Additionally, NoDaHood is back in time for Small Business Saturday, where you can shop with local vendors, grab a bite to eat and more. This event is happening from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
