MINERAL SPRINGS, N.C. — The owners of Dollar Cone in Monroe are excited to announce their plans to partner with another local business.
Earlier this year, Dollar Cone shared that the ice cream shop had plans to reopen, but those plans fell through. Now, the popular sweet treat store is getting a new address and a new reopening date.
Pam Sauza and her husband and business partner Jeff LeBlanc are all smiles as they're one step closer to reopening.
“It means something to us, it means it means a lot to the community. And we just, we want to be able to continue that," Sauza said.
Dollar Cone will partner with local coffee shop Caffiend and share the space along Waxhaw Highway. LeBlanc is looking forward to serving the community again.
“It's been a long road for us. And to be able to get back in and serve the community again, reconnect with, with our customers, who've been very supportive for us,” he said.
Here’s the scoop: the new business owners say they poured tens of thousands of dollars into Dollar Cone's previous location, but their lease agreement fell through. As the business started to feel like a total loss, Caffiend owner Mike Stewart delivered a game-changing solution.
“I know what it's like to kind of be in a pinch like that," Stewart said, "and I was in a position to offer some help.”
Stewart added, “Every small business owner knows and can appreciate, you know, just a helping hand here or there. Just especially when times are tough.”
The new location will be a bit different, yet still maintain the original branding. This means customers will have an option for a sweet treat, a caffeine boost, or both. Sauza also hinted at a menu collaboration between both businesses.
"We've already been kicking around some ideas," she said.
Dollar Cone is hoping to serve customers with their new location by January 2024.
