CHARLOTTE, N.C. — With Women's History Month nearly halfway over, WCNC Charlotte is taking a closer look at a new report breaking down in which states women find the best opportunities.
WalletHub came up with a ranked list on the best and worst states for women. In making the list, researchers looked at key metrics: The data ranges from median earnings for female workers to women's health care to the female homicide rate.

Both Carolinas were ranked in the bottom half of the list.
North Carolina came in at No. 30. Meanwhile, South Carolina ranks 10 spots lower, coming in at No. 40.
Women make up more than two-thirds of minimum-wage workers in the country, according to the report.
Inequalities continue in political representation as well: Women make up nearly 51% of the country's population. Still, women make up only 25% of the Senate and 29% of the House of Representatives.
