CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 4% from May 2022 to May 2023, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, which is the agency that tracks the price of goods and services.
Economists use the CPI as an inflation metric, but it doesn't take an expert to know everyone is coughing up more cash for just about everything. It’s not all bad news, though.
Here are six things that cost less right now according, to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics:
Used cars & trucks
4.2% price decrease from May 2022
Major appliances
10% price decrease from May 2022
Televisions
11.5% price decrease from May 2022
Airline fares
13.4% price decrease from May 2022
Gasoline
19.7% price decrease from May 2022
Health insurance
20.5% price decrease from May 2022
