CHARLOTTE, N.C. — From groceries to gasoline, just about everything is costing more these days. But there are some bargains to be had if you know what to shop for and when.
Here are six things you might find discounted this month according to AARP:
1. Gardening gear
To celebrate the return of spring, home improvement stores and nurseries offer discounts on gardening supplies, seeds, plants and pots. The deals could go quickly though. The experts at AARP say some items sold out in a hurry with more people picking up gardening during the pandemic.
2. Eco-friendly appliances
Expect discounts this month on certain green appliances to celebrate Earth Day on April 26. Look for price cuts on Energy Star-rated washing machines, refrigerators and dishwashers. AARP recommends using the Energy Star rebate finder for additional money-back deals near you. Find that here.
3. Cookware
Look for deals this month on pots, pans and cooking essentials. According to AARP, cookware deals traditionally coincide with upcoming events like weddings and graduations.
4. Air conditioners
AARP says April is the last opportunity to get any sort of discount on an air conditioner. Air conditioner deals during the summer season typically never happen.
5. Jewelry
Retailers are offering discounts ahead of Mother’s Day because no one deserves jewelry more than mom.
6. Running shoes
Get discounts on last season’s shoes as retailers clear space for new inventory.
