Will the iPhone Ultra be the status symbol of the future?

Apple said to be exploring a fancier, higher priced iPhone.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — When it comes to iPhones, you've got the standard models, the Pro versions and the Pro Max versions.

Soon, we could have yet another, more lux option. That's because Apple is said to be exploring the idea of launching a more expensive iPhone “Ultra,” which would be priced above the iPhone Pro and Pro Max models.

How much more? Right now, the iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999 while the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at $1099, so we know it’s likely to be more than that.

It's unclear what type of features would come with the "Ultra", but insiders said it may offer a more improved camera, a faster chip and possibly an even bigger display. According to Bloomberg, Apple is currently trying to differentiate the models and when the iPhone 15 comes out later this year, there will be upgraded camera features on the Pro Max model.

Interestingly, according to CNBC, Apple was just awarded a new patent this week for technology that has many analysts predicting a fold-able phone could be part of the iPhone line-up in the future.
