The survey shows that 65% of consumers intend to use loyalty or rewards accounts to save money during the upcoming holiday shopping season.
The survey found people between the ages of 35-44 are most likely to embrace loyalty programs to save money. Because of this, several online retailers are making it easier for people to tap into their loyalty accounts this holiday season.
One way they’re doing this is with personalized offers. A number of online loyalty programs will offer exclusive discounts or rewards catered to the consumer’s purchase or browsing history.
Another way is to see your rewards tally in real time. With some companies, while shopping, customers are able to see loyalty points rise with each item added to their cart, so they know in advance what future discounts they’re earning.
“Consumers fully expect to be rewarded for their allegiance to a brand, whereas before those rewards may have been simply perceived as a nice perk, but not a need to have," Jen Jones, chief marketing officer of Commercetools, said.
