CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The big game is this Sunday and no matter who you're rooting for, when the Super Bowl snacks are less expensive than they were last year, we all win.
Wells Fargo released a report highlighting the foods that will cost you less this year. If you love chicken wings, you’re in luck: chicken wings will cost you 22% less than they did last year.
Steaks are also less expensive this year with Wells Fargo reporting they’re priced about $1 less from January 2022. Avocados are similarly seeing a healthy drop in price. Expect to pay 20% less than you did one year ago.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of Super Bowl-type snacks that will cost you more this year. In fact, the latest data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics shows, in general, the cost of food at home has increased by 11.8% in the past year.
Here are some of the game-day staples that will cost you more according to the BLS:
- Hot dogs: 18.2% increase
- Snacks: 11% increase
- Cheese: 12.8% increase
- Crackers: 16% increase
- Beer: 8.6% increase
- Soda: 13% increase
