CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Several events, concerts and other attractions are bringing millions of people and dollars to cities across the Carolinas.
Now, tourism leaders in the greater Charlotte area are getting the statistics, and painting an economic picture of the patrons visiting the Queen City. The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) said visitors to the area spent $7.3 billion, and the money they're spending is bringing savings to those in the area.

The CRVA said researchers estimate Mecklenburg County residents take home an individual tax savings of $319.
Additionally, millions of dollars are spent on pushing out advertisements to visit the Queen City, and the investment is paying off. For every $1 spent on ads, the CRVA said the area is seeing $71 come back in visitor spending.
The hope is to see the numbers continue to grow next year.
