Spooky season | How much shoppers are willing to spend on Halloween

The price of candy is going up due to inflation impacting numbers as well. And people across the country are also spending on Halloween greeting cards.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Shoppers across the country are expected to spend about $12 billion for Halloween. And it's not just the price of candy going up.

This is why researchers at a group called Consumer Affairs came up with a "terror tally."

Writers are comparing factors like haunted attractions, pumpkin patches, Spirit Halloween stores, and spooky cities all in relation to population sizes.

North Carolina comes in at number 41 on this list, so not too high on the Halloween spirit. South Carolina is a bit higher in the rankings at 35.

Meanwhile, the National Retail Federation broke down what people are spending their money on. That costumes of course,  from kids to adults to pets.
