CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Have you started your holiday shopping yet? It may seem early but a new study from Deloitte shows people in Charlotte are expected to do most of their shopping in the coming weeks.
The report shows holiday spending in Charlotte is expected to increase this year. The study shows Charlotteans plan to spend an average of $2,082. That’s up 37% from last year.

So exactly how do people plan to spend their money?
The report shows while people are expecting the prices of items to go up this year, they still plan to buy the same number of gifts as last year. Deloitte says people also plan to do most of their shopping during the week of Thanksgiving.
Deloitte predicts most people in Charlotte prefer to shop online. They are expected to visit fewer stores in person than the national average.
Despite the increase in online shopping, the study shows people in Charlotte are still staying loyal to their favorite stores. Deloitte says 77% of Charlotte consumers often or always shop with their favorite retailers.
