RALEIGH, N.C. — Are you expecting a refund on your 2022 North Carolina state taxes? If you've already filed your return, you can expect the refund soon.
The North Carolina Department of Revenue announced Friday it had started issuing refunds on Friday, March 10. Taxpayers anticipating a refund can either expect a check in the mail or a direct deposit starting the week of March 13.
The NCDOR also has an online tool taxpayers can use to check on the status of their refunds. It can be accessed at this link and includes explanations about the stages the tax return is in.
The department started accepting individual tax returns on Feb. 2, 2023. Taxpayers are encouraged to file electronically as the department said the process is faster and safer than traditional paper filing. More information about electronic filing can be found online.
