CHARLOTTE, N.C. — More people are planning on traveling over the holidays this year than in 2022.
The No. 1 holiday people plan to travel for is Thanksgiving.
According to travel website Going, 59% of travelers will fly domestically over the Thanksgiving holiday, with 50% visiting family and 50% going on vacation.
Going said the ideal window of booking a flight is really between three and seven months out, but there are some deals left if people book in the next two weeks.
The flight experts said the average price of an airfare has been on a downward trend since its peak in May 2022 and is down 13% from that year, too.

For people who would rather travel internationally, they are also in luck. Going said the November holiday is the best time for affordable flights leaving the U.S., especially over to Europe.
According to Going's website, a roundtrip flight from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Venice, Italy, around Thanksgiving could be found for as low as $486, when the original trip was costing $950.
Other flights from Charlotte around the same time include an airfare to Oslo, Norway, for $499 or, Charlotte travelers could bounce over to Amsterdam for only $474.
