3 ways you could be wasting money when it comes to technology

Sure, having the latest and greatest is nice. But experts say it’s not necessary.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As inflation continues to soar, many of us are asking, "Where's the money?” Changing some of your tech habits could help you save some cash.

WCNC Charlotte is always asking "where's the money?" If you need help, reach out to WCNC Charlotte by emailing money@wcnc.com.

Here are three ways you could be wasting money when it comes to technology.

1. iCloud storage

It’s a good bet that your photos and video files are taking up the most space, causing you to pay a monthly fee to store them in the cloud -- and it’s a good bet you probably don’t even want a lot of the files you’re paying that fee to keep.

Take inventory and delete the photos and videos you don’t really need to free up space.

2. Apps

You might have apps and subscriptions you’re paying a monthly fee to have that you don’t actually need or use.

Take the time to catalog all of the apps and subscriptions you’re currently paying for and cancel the ones you don’t need.

3. Phone upgrades

Sure, having the latest and greatest is nice. But experts say it’s not necessary.

In fact, some say the only reason to upgrade your smartphone is to get enhanced security features, and not for the bells and whistles.
