CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people were arrested in connection with a string of robberies in the Charlotte area, police said Wednesday.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said four of those robberies happened between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Tuesday night.
Police said a citizen called in a tip about the suspects' vehicle in the area of Statesville Ave. and LaSalle St. Once officers found the car, they said the driver took off.
Following a chase, police said the suspect's vehicle hit another car at Beatties Ford and LaSalle, and the passenger tried to run away but he was caught. The driver was also taken into custody.
Police said the suspects, Timothy Whiteside, 46, and Veronica Crawford, 42, were in a vehicle that was carjacked on October 27. Officers said a firearm was found inside the car.
According to CMPD, Armed Robbery and Westover Division detectives determined that these suspects were also responsible for two additional robberies that occurred on Hemphill Street (October 27, 2018) and Reid Avenue (October 31, 2018).
