MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Autopsy results were released Friday on a three-year-old girl who died last summer in Mooresville.
Last July, Lawren Knowles was found unresponsive in her family's minivan then rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
An autopsy revealed the girl died from hyperthermia caused by being exposed to hot temperatures. Investigative and medical records showed the child was left strapped in a car seat in the vehicle for hours while the van was in direct sunlight.
The report said outside temperature was 90 degrees at the time, and the toddler's body temperature read 107 at the hospital.
No charges were filed.
