A woman pulled a knife on workers at a south Charlotte Walmart over the weekend, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
It happened around 2 p.m. Saturday at the Arboretum Shopping Center over the weekend.
A police report said loss prevention employees caught the suspect stealing clothes and soup cans. Edna Massey, 62, was arrested.
“It’s pretty frightening,” said one Walmart shopper.
“Desperate people do desperate things; it doesn’t matter where they are,” said Walmart shopper Terry Williams.
Some shoppers say they’re cautious at nighttime, but not always during the day.
“I don’t think about it during the daytime,” one shopper told NBC Charlotte.
Fortunately, no one was hurt. However, customers said they’ll be more alert now.
“I would certainly not ever confront anybody or say anything if they were taking anything, but it would probably make me more cautious,” said one shopper.
“It doesn’t make me afraid to come here,” said Williams.
Massey was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and released on a $50,000 bond.
