Benefit concert Sunday to raise funds for fallen officers

All proceeds will benefit the four officers killed in the April 29 ambush shooting.

CORNELIUS, N.C. — Head to the Back the Blue benefit concert this weekend and support a good cause. All proceeds will benefit the families of the four officers killed in the line of duty in Charlotte on April 29 along with a donation to the Cornelius Police Department, which is helping host the event.

The concert is Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the BoatYard at Lake Norman, 18418 Statesville Road in Cornelius.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

WCNC Charlotte and iHeart Media are partnering to help spread the word about the benefit concert.  

Here is the schedule for the day:

  • 2 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. - Acoustic stage - Taylor & Jeff of 20 Ride / America’s #1 Zac Brown Tribute
  • 2:45 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. - Main Stage - On The Border / The Ultimate Eagles Tribute
  • 3:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. - Acoustic Stage - Payton Velligan & Friends
  • 4 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. - Main Stage - Blue Monday / Tribute to MTV Rock
  • 4:45 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. - Acoustic Stage - Good Vibes / Tracy - Lizette - Bob of OTB & Blue Monday
  • 5:30 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. - Main Stage - Landslide / A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac
  • 6:15 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. - Acoustic Stage - Clee & Chris of Simplified
  • 6:45 p.m. - 7 p.m. - Kelly Weeks Final announcements and introduction to All Star Bands

Three law enforcement officers serving on a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and one Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer were killed April 29, 2024 after being met with “active gunfire” from a suspect at an east Charlotte home. A total of nine law enforcement officers were hurt.  The money raised will benefit the families of Joshua Eyer, Sam Poloche, Alden Elliott, and Thomas Weeks.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department will honor four officers killed in the line of duty, adding Joshua Eyer's name to the fallen officer memorial in Uptown.
