CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In case you haven't noticed, Charlotte's growing really big, really quickly.
Newly released numbers showed strong growth in Mecklenburg County over the past few years. The Mecklenburg County Community Pulse Report highlighted the booming population, exploding job market and increased diversification of the Charlotte area.
Here are some key takeaways:
The City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County rank near the top nationally for population growth. Between 2010-2017, Charlotte was number five on the list of cities experiencing the biggest growth in residents.
Over the last 10 years, the job growth rate in the county was 25 percent. In North Carolina, it was just nine percent. The national rate was even lower at 5.6 percent.
Cancer and heart disease continue to be the leading causes of death in Mecklenburg County.
