CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte needs the community’s help to secure a warehouse space to operate this year’s Magical Toy Drive and Angel Tree program in Charlotte. These critical Christmas programs provide gifts for thousands of children in Mecklenburg and Union counties, helping with the financial burden some parents and guardians face this holiday season.
This will be the 24th year WCNC Charlotte has partnered with the Salvation Army for the Magical Toy Drive and it's set to launch on Tuesday, November 19.
“This holiday season, we will serve more than 2,000 families through our Angel Tree program, and as you can imagine, it requires a lot of space to package and sort these toy donations,” says Major Jason Burns, area commander for The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte. “Securing this warehouse space is a challenge each year, but it has been more difficult than ever this year. This space is urgently needed to operate our program efficiently and reach the families who depend on us during the Christmas season.”
The ideal space would be at least 50,000 square feet with adequate parking, a loading dock and available for lease until mid-January. The Salvation Army would need to occupy the space as soon as possible. Anyone with any information or who has available space can email SalvationArmyCharlotte@uss.salvationarmy.org or call (704) 334-4731.
The Magical Toy Drive collection starts Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024 and donations can be dropped off at any Charlotte area Belk store. An in-person donation day is scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2024 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Belk Carolina Place.
The Magical Toy Drive ends on Friday, December 13, 2024.
