Halloween homicide suspect arrested, charged with murder

Camron Robinson was found shot to death on Eaglewood Drive last Halloween, detectives said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A suspect was arrested Friday for a deadly shooting near East Mecklenburg High School last Halloween, police announced. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said that 26-year-old Ja'Wan Smith was charged with murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling in connection with the shooting death of 22-year-old Camron Robinson on Halloween. Robinson was found shot to death along Eaglewood Avenue around 10 p.m. on Oct. 31, CMPD said.

Detectives haven't yet said what happened that led to the shooting and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses may also call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with CMPD homicide detectives.
