Charlotte charcuterie shop's newest storefront broken into about a month after opening, owners say

Babe & Butcher said the robbery happened Wednesday at the Park Road Shopping Center location, which just opened in December 2023.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A popular Charlotte business says its newest location has already been broken into, at a time it says is especially difficult for small businesses.

Babe & Butcher shared in an Instagram post on Thursday that its brand new store, located in the Park Road Shopping Center in south Charlotte, was broken into on Wednesday. The charcuterie shop said thousands of dollars of things were stolen, something that is already a shock for a small business like them. The post also said that the robbery happening in January added more pain for them as well. The post caption closed with a request for "a little extra love" as they work to move forward.

Supportive comments flooded the post, ranging from offers to run errands to replace things to asking what the most tangible ways to help the business recover. Support came from both individuals and fellow small businesses in Charlotte.

Babe & Butcher is a custom charcuterie shop that allows customers to create their own unique charcuterie boards. The first store launched in Camp North End after first growing rapidly on Instagram. In a recent post to the store's Instagram page, Lindsay Anvik - known as the babe - noted she and co-owner Robert Henricks had gotten married during the same half of 2023 in which they opened the new storefront.

The couple's charcuterie business took off during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, with customers drawn to the idea of customizing their own charcuterie boxes.
