BELMONT, N.C. — Two suspects have been arrested after a series of incidents sparked a police chase in Belmont on Friday afternoon.
Officers with the Belmont Police Department responded to a larceny call at a Belmont Walmart around noon on Friday. According to the larceny call, the suspects allegedly used pepper spray and tried to hit Walmart employees with a car.
When the officers arrived and tried to stop the suspects, police say they refused to stop and almost hit a cruiser before speeding off, which sparked a police chase.
During the chase, the suspects' car hit a motorist on Wilkinson Boulevard near the Catawba River Bridge. The uninvolved driver was not hurt in the crash.
Police were able to arrest both suspects after a short pursuit on foot.
The suspects, identified as Jaqualla Simmons and Dyshaune Boyd, are facing multiple charges.
