Driver who hit 2 pedestrians in Boone wanted by police

The suspect allegedly sped away from the scene after hitting two pedestrians near Appalachian State University, police said.

BOONE, N.C. — Boone Police are asking for the public's help identifying a vehicle connected with a hit-and-run near Appalachian State University last month. 

The incident happened at approximately midnight on June 21. Boone Police said two pedestrians were hit by the suspect along Rivers Street, near Bodenheimer Driver. The suspect vehicle was described as a dark-colored SUV or hatchback. The vehicle may have damage to one or both headlights from the collision. The driver sped away toward Bodenheimer Drive, police said.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call High Country Crime Stoppers at 828-268-6959. Witnesses may also call the Boone Police Department at 828-268-6900. Tips can be sent via text message by sending "NCTIP" to 274637. All information will be kept confidential and information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
