One dead after shooting in Caldwell County

The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office said that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between acquaintances.

GAMEWELL, N.C. — A man is dead after a dispute led to a shooting Friday afternoon in Gamewell, according to the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office

The Caldwell County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting the shooting at 4:26 p.m., according to officials. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a man who had been shot multiple times. That man later died of his injuries. 

The investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between people who knew each other, according to officials.

Jeffrey Dewayne Ferguson, 49, was arrested and charged with murder. He is in the Caldwell County Detention Center under no bond.
