CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man who robbed a Charlotte arcade that fired him will spend the next 34 years in prison, federal prosecutors announced.
Robert Lee Barringer, 49, was sentenced to 412 months in prison for shooting three people during an armed robbery at the Fish House North arcade on North Tryon Street in July 2021. Prosecutors say Barringer approached the front door of the business with his face covered and waited for one of the victims to open the door. When they refused to let him in, Barringer forced his way inside and shot them, records show.
Witnesses told investigators that Barringer then ordered one of the victims to give him the keys to the cash register and had another person open it. He stole $3,500 from the business and ran away. All three people who were shot suffered serious injuries, detectives said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police later learned that Barringer was fired from Fish House North about a month before the robbery. He was arrested two days later at a hotel in Charlotte. He was found guilty on multiple charges related to the incident in August 2022.
Barringer has a lengthy criminal history with federal and state convictions for assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
