CMS bus driver facing nine counts of misdemeanor child abuse

The incident happened on Sept. 19 and the bus driver was charged on Oct. 14.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools bus driver has been charged with nine misdemeanor counts of child abuse.

Mark Foster was charged on Oct. 14, but the alleged incident occurred on Sept. 19.

WCNC Charlotte obtained the court summons, which alleges that Foster diverted from his bus route, made an unauthorized stop and left the bus running and the door open with children inside.

WCNC Charlotte has reached out to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for a statement about this incident. It is unclear why Foster was charged almost a month after the alleged incident occurred.
