CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two men are facing several charges after they reportedly fired guns into occupied homes in northwest Charlotte.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said officers were called to Coronet Way near Yellowstone Drive around 5 p.m. Tuesday. While officers didn't find anyone hurt, they did find two homes that were fired into along with a car. Both of the homes hit by gunfire had people inside while the car was unoccupied at the time.
Police said they found two suspects nearby and arrested them both: Ulysses Barnes and Urundi Barnes, both 26 years old.
Both men were each charged with two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling and seven counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Ulysses Barnes was charged with felony conspiracy possession of a firearm by a felon while Urundi Barnes was charged with felony conspiracy injury to personal property and shooting within city limits.
Court records showed bonds for both men were set at $200,000.
CMPD noted the shots were fired near the Stewart Creek Greenway but did not involve it in any way.
