GRAY, Tennessee — A man who was wanted for murder by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department was arrested in the northeast corner of Tennessee on Tuesday.
A news release from the Washington County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 45-year-old Henry Centeno Renteria. Deputies said Renteria was found in a residence in the town of Gray and taken into custody. He is now charged with being a fugitive from justice by the office and awaits extradition back to North Carolina.
Renteria will appear in Washington County General Sessions Court on Wednesday.
The sheriff's office noted Renteria was wanted for murder from an incident that unfolded on March 16, 2024. WCNC Charlotte has asked CMPD for more details about the investigation and will update this article once more information is provided.
Gray, Tennessee is located about 158 miles northwest of Charlotte and sits near the state's borders with North Carolina and Virginia. Gray is roughly 12 miles northwest of Johnson City.
