Charlotte man's death now being investigated as a homicide

The original call was for a welfare check on him.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man's death in June is now being investigated as a homicide.

On Tuesday, July 2, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department shared more details about its investigation into a man's death on North Graham Street near West 9th Street, which was first reported on June 14 around 2 p.m. Officers said they responded to a welfare check request and found 36-year-old Corey Damoan Robinson dead at the scene.

After further investigation, Robinson's death was classified as a homicide. However, further details were not immediately shared by police, including how he may have died or any suspects they may be considering.

Robinson's next of kin was notified of his death.
