Charlotte resident finds bullet holes in their garage door

A CMPD officer documented the "victim later discovered the garage door was struck multiple times," according to incident documentation obtained by WCNC Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A north Charlotte resident discovered their garage door had been struck multiple times by bullets after a shooting in Charlotte's Oakbrooke neighborhood Wednesday night.

The resident on Panglemont Drive told the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department that someone was shooting outside their home around 8:30 p.m.

After the shooting, they found the bullet holes in their garage door. A CMPD officer documented the "victim later discovered the garage door was struck multiple times," according to incident documentation obtained by WCNC Charlotte.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, said she was home with her teen son at the time. The gunfire forced both of them to drop to the ground for cover. At least two bullet, made it inside her home. No one was hurt.

She told WCNC Charlotte what was most disheartening about the incident is that she believes teens were involved in the shooting.

People who live in the area said Thursday they heard about a dozen gunshots.

“There were two cars they were speeding though maybe going 50 miles an hour,” said a neighbor who did not want to share his name. “They made a left-hand turn at the stop sign and within 60 seconds you heard a bunch of gunfire go off.”

“I came outside and seen three kids ducking around the house and shooting back at what looked like over that hill,” another neighbor said. "It was random and strange for us to hear multiple gunshots and it was a big gun. It was a big long gun that the guy was carrying."

The neighbors said the area is full of families with children and they hope the gun violence is not something they have to experience again in their community. They would like to see more police patrol the area.

At last check, no injuries have been reported from the incident and no suspect descriptions have been released.
