CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman was killed and a man was injured in a shooting in south Charlotte Tuesday night, police said.
The female victim has been identified as 36-year-old Brandy Cox.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and Medic responded to a reported shooting on Meadowridge Drive, not far from Carmel Road and Pineville-Matthews Road, around 9:15 p.m. When officers arrived, they found two people who had been shot. One of the victims, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening, according to CMPD.
CMPD located a person of interest at the scene and that person was taken into custody. Detectives are not looking for another suspect at this time. Police haven't identified the woman who was killed.

All calls to CMPD and Crime Stoppers are anonymous. Witnesses with information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
