Charlotte shooting victim speaks out: 'We don’t want to live in Charlotte, it’s scary'

Bullets left glass shattered, holes in the bricks, and holes in the fence, leaving victims with a scary memory of the night.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte resident, Kayla Alexander, says she was home with her sleeping husband when they became the victim of one of the city's recent shooting sprees.

“When we heard the glass break, we didn’t know if someone was in the house or if they just shot through the window," Alexander said. "It went through the window, through the closet, and through the wall. It was terrifying."

Bullets left glass shattered, holes in the bricks, and holes in the fence – and left them with a scary memory of the night.

“We don’t want to live here anymore. We don’t want to live in Charlotte; it’s scary. My dogs are traumatized. They’re so scared to walk outside and hear loud noises, they duck. I duck still – I’m so scared,” Alexander continued.

She said they’ve already started packing their bags and stressed that, with all of the recent shootings in the area, more needs to be done.

“The juveniles are getting guns way too easy ... something needs to be done,” she explained.

CMPD says they’re continuing to push their JADE program as a way to stop these random shootings. You can find out more about the program here.
