ANSON COUNTY, N.C. – The North Carolina Highway Patrol and SBI are investigating after a person led troopers on a chase from Union County into Anson County that ended in a crash.
According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, deputies assisted troopers in a pursuit on Highway 74 in east Monroe Tuesday morning. The pursuit reportedly started when the driver of a minivan failed to stop for troopers.
As the pursuit entered Anson County, the State Highway Patrol says a trooper performed a PIT maneuver, causing the driver of the minivan to lose control. The van then traveled off the shoulder of US-74 and overturned.
State Highway Patrol says the driver and two passengers were transported to CMC. Another passenger died of their injuries at the scene, SHP says.
