Rock Hill man now second person arrested for July 2023 murder in Chester

A woman was also charged with obstruction of justice.

CHESTER, S.C. — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) said a second arrest has been made in a murder case that unfolded in July 2023.

33-year-old Antonio Woods Heath was arrested in Chester County on Monday according to SLED. He is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Additionally, 32-year-old Jessica Bonita Camps was arrested that day as well in Union County, South Carolina. She's charged with obstruction of justice.

Warrants released by SLED allege Heath was armed with a handgun and hid behind the corner of a home during the shooting, which happened on July 23 on Saluda Street. The warrants claim Heath shot the victim several times. Heath then allegedly got into a car and sped off with 31-year-old John Antonio Francis Lowery, who was arrested just five days after the shooting.

Camps allegedly hid Heath from law enforcement from December 1 through December 4 at her home in Jonesville, a rural community roughly 18 miles southeast of the city of Spartanburg.

Heath was most recently the subject of a wanted alert from the Chester County Sheriff's Office. The public was warned to avoid contact with him if spotted.

SLED is aiding the investigation at the request of local authorities.

Note: WCNC instituted a policy in March 2021 regarding the broadcast or posting of mugshots.

WCNC will only air or post a mugshot if the person has been formally charged with a crime and in a few other cases. The exceptions include: If it appears the person could be a danger to themselves or others or if they are wanted by authorities; to differentiate between people with a common name; if the photos could encourage more victims to come forward. The news-editorial leadership may also decide to use a mugshot based on the severity of the crime(s) committed and/or the level of public interest in the crime and ensuing criminal proceedings.

WCNC Charlotte has chosen to use this mugshot because of the nature of the charges against the suspect.
