Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating after a person was shot in east Charlotte Thursday morning.
CMPD was called to a reported shooting on Riding Trail Road just off Farm Pond Lane around 10 a.m. A CMPD spokesperson told NBC Charlotte the victim, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital by Medic with a confirmed gunshot wound.
Police now believe that the gunshot wound was self-inflected. The victim, a 14-year-old was rushed to CMC with serious injuries. .
Detectives have not released any suspect information or announced any arrests.
