CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A man accused of raping a child in Ohio was arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Wednesday.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., CMPD’s VCAT unit located and arrested 22-year-old Travis Odom based off a Crime Stoppers tip.
On Monday, June 13, the Montgomery County, Ohio Grand Jury indicted Odom for the rape of a child under the age of 13 and issued a warrant for his arrest. According to authorities in Ohio, the incident occurred in February this year, when the mother of an 11-year-old suspected someone was in her daughter’s bedroom.
When the woman checked her room, police say she found Odom half-naked, hiding in her closet. When the woman found him, Odom shoved his way past her and ran away from the home.
Odom is currently being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail pending extradition.
