CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police have charged a woman for allegedly dragging a dog behind her vehicle.
Around 10:30 Wednesday morning, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police were called to Mount Holly-Huntersville Road on reports of a vehicle dragging a dog behind it.
Police stopped the vehicle in the 8200 block and interviewed the driver and several witnesses.
According to police, the officers determined the driver had just left her home, and the dog's chain got caught on the back of her vehicle.
The dog sustained serious injuries and died on the scene.
The driver, 24-year-old Guadalupe Cordero, was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty.
