CMPD identifies woman found dead after assault in east Charlotte

It happened on Turquoise Drive, which is in a residential area off Plott Road in the Hickory Grove area.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said 26-year-old Diana Perez-Barrera was killed in east Charlotte Friday morning.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to an assault on Turquoise Drive, which is in a residential area off of Plott Road in the Hickory Grove area. It happened a little before 6 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a Perez-Barrera dead at the scene. 

No arrests have been made and CMPD hasn't released any suspect information at this time. It's unclear if the victim and suspect(s) knew each other. 

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses may also call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with homicide detectives.
