CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested a man in connection with the deadly shooting that took place in northwest Charlotte Sunday night.
According to CMPD, officers responded to a reported shooting in the 3000 block of Timberbrook Drive just after 10 p.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim, identified as 44-year-old William Jacobs, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Jacobs was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.
Detectives said their initial investigation revealed that Jacobs was inside an apartment along with several other people when he was shot. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Davenon Farmer, fled the scene before authorities arrived.
Farmer was later arrested near the 2600 block of Columbus Circle on Monday, CMPD said. He was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and murder.
CMPD said the shooting was not a random act of violence and that the Jacobs and Farmer knew each other.
Detectives have not identified a suspect in this case and no arrests have been made.
