Armed robbery investigation underway at northwest Charlotte restaurant

Police said the suspect entered a Waffle House with a rifle and fired rounds.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is looking for a person they said fired shots and stole items from a Waffle House in northwest Charlotte overnight Tuesday.

The incident happened along Banner Elk Drive, just off Sunset Road, around 3: 15 a.m., according to a report from CMPD.

Police said the suspect entered the Waffle House with a rifle and fired rounds. Other people were in the restaurant at the time of the shooting, though no injuries were reported.

The suspect then stole cash and the cash register before leaving the scene, according to police.

Police told WCNC Charlotte no arrests have been made at this time.
